Creative hobbies if you love art and want to get inspired!

Art based hobbies make you happier, smarter, more inspired and make you live longer (seriously).

So I’ll get straight to the point. If you already love art and want to try something new. If you have always felt creative sparks but don't know where to direct them. Or you just need a new hobby, this list if you for.

  1. Pottery - Get creative with clay and sculpt your own designs. Create ceramics for your kitchen and home or even make gifts for friends. You can take pottery classes and learn from a tutor or buy an at home clay set on amazon (there are tons available).

  2. Painting - Maybe paint the pottery you have just made?! There are SO MANY forms of painting - watercolour, acrylics, oil paints… The list goes on. Capture memories, improve focus and reduce stress.

  3. Card making - This is a personal favourite. You don’t have to be in any way skilled to make really nice cards. Buy kits with everything you need or put together your own materials. Who doesn’t love receiving a homemade card?!

  4. Sketching - Go to one of your favourite spots with a sketchbook and pens/pencils. It's really that simple. Practice mindfulness and creative thinking - even if you are bad at sketching.

  5. Digital art - I know you have an iphone, ipad or laptop. That's all you need to get started. Follow a youtube tutorial or try out an app (sketchbook, adobe fresco or procreate are great ones to get started)

  6. Scrapbooking - A really fun way to capture your memories. How many photos do you take on your phone and completely forget about? Why not save those memories in a book you can look back on.

  7. Jewellery making - You know when you have exactly in your head the necklace you want but can’t find it anywhere. Try making it yourself.

  8. Quilting - Sew layers of fabric together to make a blanket (and who doesn’t love a new blanket). Try using old t-shirts from clubs, travels or societies you have been a part of, such a fun way to capture memories.

  9. Candle making - Okay I get it we all tried candle making during lockdown and ended up with melted wax all over our kitchen. BUT give it another shot, it's so fun and you can be as creative as you want with colours, scents and shapes.

  10. Flower arranging - get seasonal and pick up a spring inspired hobby. Peaceful, creative and really a hobby to romanticise your life.
